THE END OF A WONDERFUL SEMESTER!

Throughout this semester I have learned many things during my research experiment. I developed many skills like: teamwork, writing a scientific research paper, certain techniques like NMR and IR spectroscopy. I learned to gain patience throughout time, because not everything that you want to obtain can be obtained in the first trial. I have become a better researcher, a better student, a better leader and I’ve gained a bigger sense of responsibility. These characteristics have made me stronger and give me a reason to continue with my goals.

Like many investigations; we often find obstacles that make your research seem harder to develop. One of the biggest obstacles that have made our goals a little bit harder to reach is not having the plasmid DNA we ordered to start its interactions with the compounds synthesized in the lab. Because the interactions have not been made, then we do not know the precise toxicity the compound has, therefore it does not lead us to any new procedures of development.

To conclude about certain properties of the compound, we have sent them to elemental analysis, to see the purity of the compound synthesized and to compare these values with other research papers that have compounds similar to the one I’m preparing.

I hope that next semester, we can make the interactions of cis-Pt(NH3)Cl2-[thiazole] with the plasmid DNA and find the toxicity and activity inside the molecule. Also I hope I can develop new pathways into the making of the same product, and maybe use other ligands that have better or the same activity of the compound synthesized this semester, and compare the results obtained.
