My project’s approach this semester!!
This second semester of investigation will be the highlight of my project. Last semester I obtained the complex of interest (cis-[PtCl2(NH3)(thiazole)] using two methods of synthesis. This semester after having completed the synthesis and characterization of the compound of interest I want to observe the activity, selectivity and cytotoxicity of this complex within the DNA molecule, by using plasmid DNA.
My goals in this project are:
¨ Interactions of the product obtained with plasmid DNA
¨ Study toxicity and activity of the compound within the DNA molecule
¨ Try other procedures depending on the results of the interactions
¨ Use other ligands for further synthesis
Complexes containing platinum are very good antitumor agents, but certain components (especially glutathione) in the human body reduce the activity and selectivity of the molecule and it reduces its efficiency for the treatment, so the purpose is the study of the activity, selectivity and toxicity of the molecule. Depending on the results, further investigations will be held.
Basically, the techniques used in the labs, will be the same as last semester: NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, dilutions, and others. The newest technique will be to learn of to inject the compound of interest in the plasmid DNA, which we will practice beforehand.

Mucho exito!!!
Muchas Gracias!
