My first month of investigation!!!
THE FIRST INGREDIENT OF A JOB WELL DONE:
TEAMWORK!!!!!!
It’s amazing to realize how much one can do in a full month of investigation. I have noticed as time passes by, that an investigation takes sacrifice and dedication, to obtain the results expected. One of the most important facts of the development and success of my research experience has truly been: TEAMWORK.
I work with my lab partner Jetsy M. Caraballo López, because we have a similar project, her synthesis envolves the use of benzothiazole and mine envolves the use of thiazole. We both help each other with our research projects and the results have turned out to be what we expected. I have to tell you, without her help, my results in the synthesis of the compound of interest wouldn’t have been so great. It is very important to have a lab partner, because the process of synthesis is very long and time is precious. That is why we divide our work, for example, when I have to measure the mass of a compound (which takes a lot of time), she looks for the instruments that we have to use, that way we can do things at a faster pace, and in a more effective matter.
As I mentioned before time is very important if we want our results to be exactly the same as what we expect, so I think that one of the biggest obstacles in teamwork is defining our work hours. Some of our other partners have different classes, which implies to different work hours that differ with our work hours. But Jetsy and I found convenient working hours; and HERE is where the part of sacrifice takes on. Hour working hours are at 8:00am, very early in the morning. It takes a lot of sacrifice because I have to wake up everyday at 5:00am to get on time to the lab (I’m from Lajas and traffic is at its biggest point early in the morning). Even though I have to wake up early in the morning I really don’t mind because I love what I do, and I like to do things like they are supposed to be done.
That is why teamwork is very important and if both teammates have the same goal, the same enthusiasm and the same dedication, everything will turn out to be successful and new things are to be learned each and everyday!

Es bien interesante tu trabajo de investigacion. Pero tengo una duda, que tecnica utilizas para medir la masa del compuesto sintetizado???
